Royal Ballet workshop

Delivered by the Royal Opera House, this 3-5 day workshop will be run by professional teachers from Royal Ballet education team. Using The Royal Ballet's production of Homage to the Queen as their focus, the workshops will encourage the advocates to engage in dance activities that explore the themes of ballet, enabling them to stretch their personal sense of physicality and space in a safe and enjoyable atmosphere.

After the workshops, the Young Advocates will be given the chance to attend a dress rehearsal of Homage to the Queen, followed by an opportunity to meet selected dancers from The Royal Ballet. They will then be able to ask questions about what they have seen on stage, and about what life is like as a dancer in The Royal Ballet Company.

The Royal Ballet's production of Homage to the Queen is a rich starting point for creative activities, with its focus on the four elements – earth, water, fire, and air. Over the course of the three workshops students will develop their own ideas and responses to the themes of the ballet. Friends and family members will be invited to attend a showcase of the work that has been done on the last morning of each workshop.

One such workshop has already been run in Beijing, and was a great success. For more information, click here.
