Over 170 students (both able-bodied and disabled) participated for the first time in Hong Kong’s first Paralympic School Day held on 4 July, 2008 at Ma On Shan Sports Ground. The event promoted the Paralympic Spirit, the indomitable spirit of athletes with disabilities to compete to win overcoming long odds and aims to advocate the potential of sport to benefit a diverse range of people in the community and promote social inclusiveness around the world. Kicked-off by Young Advocates Stars, Paralympic gold medallist So Wa-wai and pop singer Jason Chan Pak-yu, the participants from able and disabled schools joined the Young Advocates in a series of 10 fun and interesting games that were modified from the actual Paralympic Games. These games included the wheelchair challenge puzzle, horse-riding for the disabled, wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, boccia (lawn bowling) and many more.
