Q: Who can be a Young Advocate?
A: We are looking for people aged between 18 and 25. We welcome young men and women with and without disabilities. In China, the UK and other countries we aim to have young advocates from a range of different cities, provinces and countries so that as far as possible we achieve a geographical spread.
Q: How can I find out more about applying to take part in the programme?
A: We welcome applications from enthusiastic individuals who are:
?Willing to commit to the promotion of the Paralympic Spirit;
?Able to demonstrate willingness and the capacity to take on a volunteer leadership role to promote the Paralympic Spirit and the inclusion of young people with disabilities in sport, art, culture and society
?Able to demonstrate willingness to learn and work hard during all the training modules that provided by the Young Advocates Programme.

The website contains a lot of information about the programme, the role and its requirements and how to apply. You will be expected to take part in active workshops, to express your views in discussions, to attend Paralympic sports events as a spectator and to go on various visits.
Q: I find it difficult to communicate due to my disability--How will I be supported to take part?
A: Please let us know about the reasonable adjustments that you need, for example if you need a BSL interpreter or lip speaker. As indicated earlier, the programme is open to people who may need the support of an assistant or carer. We will provide help with interpretation between Chinese and English.
Q: How will the young advocates programme meet the varied needs of people with disabilities?
A: The Young Advocates Programme has been designed with our Chinese partners and is based on Olympic and Paralympic ideals. Many of the activities will relate to these.

Applicants need to be able to fulfil the requirements of the advocate role. The terms and conditions of participation and the focus of selection will include eligibility to secure a visa. The programme therefore is open to people who have physical and sensory disabilities and long-standing health problems. We are able to make reasonable adjustments, including offer a place at the forum for reader, an interpreter or a support worker. The context and programme design cannot support people with learning disabilities or who have mental health problems.
Q: Is there an address to send a paper copy of the application as i have a paper reference?
A: You can sent it to Dora Duan(Sports Officer).
Our address is: Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy, 4/F Landmark
